In each of our meetings, we've touched briefly on the topic of our mission, vision and goals. However, we haven't had an opportunity to discuss our thoughts about these with one another. What are our intentions, purposes or objectives? How will we articulate these to our parents, students and community members? Please, share your thoughts.
I have done some research and put together a compilation of mission, vision and goal statements for consideration in Google docs.
ReplyDeleteThese are the mission and vision statements for Lifetime Fitness, the only place I've worked where they were meaningful and a part of the culture. Examples help me:
ReplyDeleteMission:
Our mission is to provide an educational, entertaining, friendly and inviting, functional and innovative experience of uncompromising quality that meets the health and fitness needs of the entire family.
Vision:
To be a premier employer by making every team member more valuable each year while building and expanding a macro healthy way-of-life company and brand that is respected and coveted by customers, vendors, and competitors.
After reviewing the Google docs on mission and vision statements, it is clear that if we have a mission, vision, hybrid, or both types of statements, they must be direct and inspiring. An inspiring statement will give all stakeholders in the school a common uniting belief. We must include what we, as a staff, are going to provide and how this will benefit student achievement and success. They will be words we believe in and live by.
